When Axel Thorstensson and Gabriel Lundegård reunited at the start of the term at Malmö Academy of Music, after a year of studying in different cities, it was clear from day one that a new musical project was in motion. Axel and Gabriel began writing material, wanting to take everything they loved from the jazz/fusion genre and combine it with elements from other concerts they had experienced. The course was quickly set: jazz fusion that is accessible to everyone.
When news came that their old classmate Alfred Svalander, along with new acquaintance Viktor Papaspiropoulos, would be moving to Malmö, it was time to start playing together and it was a perfect match right away. Together the group has created a unique sound that forges a bond with the audience, allowing them to explore the music together. The band draws inspiration from acts such as Yellowjackets, Rymden, Weather Report, and the Esbjörn Svensson Trio.
Thorstensson Lundegård Quartet (TLQ) wants everyone to be able to enjoy the music, the joy, the improvisation, and the ideas. The band reaches out to listeners who do not usually listen to instrumental music, inviting them to a concert of original music they will not soon forget.
