Pianist and diploma student Sten Ulloa Carler of the Malmö Academy of Music presents an exciting programme featuring works by Beethoven and young Swedish composers. Running time: 90 minutes The Salon: 6:40 PM | Concert starts: 7:00 PM Bar and Bistro open: 6:00 PM For his diploma recital, Sten Ulloa Carler presents some of the piano repertoire’s absolute masterpieces, interwoven with newly written works by young Swedish composers. The programme includes Beethoven’s final piano sonata, Op. 111, which serves as a natural bridge into the Romantic era, represented here by music by Robert Schumann. Sten Ulloa Carler (b. 1997) is a Swedish-Chilean pianist who has established himself as a prominent voice among his generation. He grew up in Chile, where he began his piano studies, before continuing his education in Sweden at Södra Latin Upper Secondary School in Stockholm. Sten went on to study at the Ingesund School of Music with Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist, earning his bachelor’s degree in 2019, and at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) with Roger Muraro and Isabelle Dubuis. He also completed a master’s degree at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm/Edsberg under Mats Widlund. He is currently completing his studies with a soloist diploma at the Malmö Academy of Music, studying with Francisca Skoogh and Tuija Hakkila. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed in Sweden, across Europe and in South America. During his studies, he attracted attention through success in several competitions in Sweden, England and Chile, including first prize at the Chilean national competition Certamen Flora Guerra in 2018. More recently, he was a prize winner at the Malmö Yamaha Piano Competition in 2024. He has received numerous scholarships from, among others, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, Gålö Foundation, Jubelfonden, Forssius Foundation and Fondation Meyer. In March 2026, he made his solo debut with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, performing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
